Whether you want a single-family home, a multi-residential building or prefer a building where you can make drastic renovations, you can make it work for co-ownership.
In this article, we have a look at different designs and co-ownership property concepts on behalf of Picnic Design. Picnic Design is a Toronto-based architecture and interior design studio. Founded and headed by Joanne Lam and Eric Martin, they have created three architectural designs for co-ownership and co-living homes.
Singles and Couples
This design is multi-functional depending on the group. Whether you’re singles, couples or a mixture of the two, this type of design will be able to suit your needs. This concept has three separate living suites that all accommodate a queen-size bed, bathroom and kitchenette as well as a private area to relax - inside or out. Shared spaces include the living room, a large kitchen and dining area as well as a space for working.
Senior Living
With four private suites on the top floor and shared space on the main floor, this design is great for senior living. The space is designed for potential future additions such as an elevator for mobility issues and a live-in carer suite that can be renovated and added if needed. The shared spaces allow for easy socialisation to increase quality of life and allow seniors to age-in-place with security.
Multiple Families
This co-owned house is three levels with the top two floors dedicated to private suites for each family. Each suite has two bedrooms, a private bathroom, kitchenette, living area and balcony. The shared space on the main floor includes a large kitchen and dining area as well as play and living area for children (or adults) for all families to enjoy. It’s the perfect house to build a community.
